Red Wine and Burgers
Love burgers? Most people do. And
they like wine, too. Funny, though, that some folks don't think
to serve them together. But there are lots of matches between
burgers and wine.
With juicy hamburgers its red wine
all the way . . . but adding cheese and different toppings is where
the fun begins. So here's a burger checklist:
Cheddar
burger with the basics? Go with Australian Shiraz for that inky,
peppery taste.
Like
bacon on your burger? Then it's Californian Zinfandel...with
mouthwatering fruitiness that likes the salty smoky bacon.
How
about Swiss cheese with grilled onion? Go Sangiovese. Chianti
has a brightness that balances the flavors.
Big
bold blue cheese burgers and big bold and young Napa Valley Cabernet
Sauvignon...no problem.
And
if you like your burger plain and simple then make it Merlot.
It's a great
chance to pop a cork instead of a "pop top".
