Wine of the Week!
Babich 2006 Pinot Noir $17
Don’t you love trying wines from around the world? Well, our wine of the week is from faraway New Zealand. It’s Babich 2006 Pinot Noir.
The Marlborough region is perfect for Pinot growing with warm days and cool nights that chill down the ripening grapes and this Pinot is a delightful medium bodied wine with predominant cherry flavors.
To us it’s bright and fun to drink. It has tangy fruitiness with just a hint of earthiness. Not as ripe and darkly fruity as some US Pinot, the acidity makes it fresh tasting, which is ideal during warmer summer months.
It will be a flexible addition to your wine choices as you grill some salmon, enjoy a turkey burger or roast some chicken for easy and casual summer dining.
Babich Pinot Noir is about seventeen dollars and is seriously good wine that doesn’t take itself too seriously so serve it when you want a red that just seems to fit in anytime.

Winemaker’s Notes and Comments:
The bouquet is a mix of sweet fruit strawberry and plum, with savoury forest floor notes. Strawberry is also found on the palate with a touch of earthy spice, combining with finely textured tannins to produce a soft and supple wine.
When you read our thoughts,
please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine
may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying
it because of that. In fact, you may want to email
us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our
FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts . . . first, prices
are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean
different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for
a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly!
Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions.
